Feeling unwell far from home? Talk to a doctor by video during your stay in Chamonix.
At the foot of Mont Blanc, Chamonix runs two high seasons rather than one. Skiers in winter, walkers and climbers in summer: in both cases active, highly international stays, where a health problem quickly takes over.
DotKtor is a telehealth service for travellers, tourists and hotel guests who need medical help abroad. Request a video teleconsultation from your phone, without unnecessary trips.
Create my account and request a teleconsultationPayment is made directly by the patient before the consultation, and the price is shown before you book. For any urgent or worrying situation, call the emergency services immediately: 15 or 112.
The consultation covers common health problems that can arise while travelling.
An Alpine valley a little over a thousand metres up, Chamonix is a crossing point into Italy via the Mont Blanc tunnel and one of the most international mountain destinations in France. Its clientele is overwhelmingly foreign, British and northern European in particular.
Medical provision in a mountain valley stays sized for its permanent residents, while the population present in season is several times higher. Distances between hamlets and the valley floor add to that. In an emergency, call 15 or 112.
Two annual peaks: December to March for the ski season, June to September for the summer mountains. Between them the valley empties and availability changes completely. Stays often last a week, in apartments or valley accommodation.
Consultations are carried out by doctors registered with the French Medical Council (Ordre des Médecins) who practise in France, and experienced in caring for international patients during their stay. Subject to medical availability, an English-speaking doctor can take your consultation, so you can describe your symptoms without a language barrier.
Create your DotKtor account, submit your request, then access a video consultation with an available doctor. The service is designed to make it easier to reach a doctor during a stay or a trip.

A stable internet connection is enough. If the signal is weak at altitude, it is better to come back down or use your accommodation's wifi.
Each teleconsultation is a separate request; nothing prevents you from making another during the same stay if the need arises.
In an emergency, call 15 or 112.
